"A Journey of Hope" Begins Ash Wednesday (2/17)
Lent is an annual journey of hope as we walk with Jesus through his earthly ministry to the cross.  Its significance is not in merely denying ourselves something we like, but in consciously deciding to open ourselves to a greater reality of God's presence in our daily lives.  It is disciplined study, prayer, and action.

Begin this journey of Hope on Ash Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. with a contemplative worship service that will include the imposition of ashes.  Then, continue your journey by joining Pastor Fred Shaw at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 -- March 24 for further study.

Welcome!

At Oxford UMC you will discover a vital and caring spiritual family that celebrates the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  Together we seek practical and relevant expressions of God in everyday living.  Oxford UMC is a safe, loving community where you can grow your spirit.  Our entire church family looks forward to knowing you.

OUMC Members Encouraed to Consider Electronic Giving Program

Our church enbraces a giving option that may be more convenient for many members and friends -- Electronic Giving.  This new giving option works in the same manner as mortgages, loan payments and insurance premiums that are automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account.  Such an arrangement has many advantages for the member and the church.  Persons seeking further information should contact Jack Cotter, Chair of the Stewardship Committee (523-0096) or contact the Church Office (523-5115).

Serving Today ... Building Tomorrow

To explore the deep roots of the Oxford United Methodist Church is not only to celebrate how far we’ve come but to reflect on all that was made possible by those who came before us. It was their sacrifice and vision that have left us the church we know today.  We serve today. We build tomorrow. While these ideas may seem different, they are deeply intertwined with the success of our church. Had our predecessors focused only on meeting the needs of their day, they would not have left a church that was stronger than the one they were given. Had they chased only future ambitions, there may not have been a strong enough church to realize the fruits of their vision.

In September 2009, the OUMC Church Conference authorized a capital campaign to improve our facilities and provide important resources for current and future church patrons. We invite you to share in this exciting opportunity through investing in any of these projects. However, we ask that your generosity not come at the expense of the critical church programming you already support, but as a separate gift to tomorrow’s OUMC.
Together, we serve today ... we build tomorrow.
